A postpartum doula supports families transition into parenthood with a sense of ease, joy and care.
Hi! I’m SJ.
Whether you’re in your first trimester, or your baby was born yesterday, I’m so glad you’re here.
Your first 40 days postpartum can be a whirlwind of inadequate sleep, asking Google “is this normal?”, navigating the many ways to feed your baby, and riding the waves of hormonal shifts. It’s a lot! Your first 40 days can also be a sacred time of “lying in,” snuggling your baby, sipping restorative broths, and honoring your body’s ability to heal after birth.
My goal as your postpartum doula is to help you maintain this sacred container of early life postpartum, as well as navigate its daily challenges.
Whether you’re bringing a new child into the world, have had a miscarriage, or need support as a single parent, I’d love to meet you and figure out what kind of postpartum support you’re looking for.
A little about me…
I became a postpartum doula because 15+ years of working as a babysitter showed me that mothers need more support. Mothers are the foundation of human and ecological wellbeing. Societal demands on mothers to get it all done, be nice to their kids 24/7 and lose baby weight after giving birth make it very hard for mothers to be healthy in mind, body and spirit. If mothers aren’t well, no one is. Postpartum doula support for a mother on her path to parenthood has a global ripple effect that not only supports the rest of the family but all those in her sphere of influence and beyond. Postpartum doula support is not just a nice thing to have, it’s a global necessity. Working with me plants the seed for mothers and future generations to thrive.

Kind Words
“We loved having SJ as our postpartum doula! We hired SJ to come and help us—and especially cook for us—in the early weeks after our newest baby was born. I knew this experience would feel different than my past, less-fully-supported postpartum experiences, but I had no idea how much better and nourished I’d feel with SJ’s presence in our home. She would come to us and make incredible, comforting, postpartum-friendly foods, but also would model what it looked like to be a loving and welcome presence in a freshly postpartum home, freeing up space for all of us to better care for one another, as well as to be more present and nourished in those early days and months. I can’t recommend SJ more!”

“I hired SJ as a postpartum doula/home-chef and it was fantastic to have her support during those first few weeks of newborn fog. She was absolutely lovely to communicate with both in planning for how she could best support our family, and to have in our home once a week while she was cooking for us. The food she made was delicious, and easy to reheat for lunches and dinners, and she asked for feedback each week to make sure we were getting what we needed. She was great company, and offered some gentle movement and breath work in addition to the cooking she did for us. It was so wonderful to know that we had delicious, nourishing food for the week and not have to constantly be asking "what will we eat for dinner tonight" so we could focus on the new baby. I especially appreciated that she took into consideration our tastes and preferences, but did all of the meal planning and shopping so there was no need for me to prep or plan before her visits. Although we used her services mostly for cooking, she was very open and would be a great support for a variety of postpartum needs--including just having company and a listening ear! I couldn't recommend her enough to support during this family transition.”
